Pruneo MCP server
Let your AI agent see what fills your Mac's disk and clean the safe part, always to a restorable quarantine.
Pruneo is a free Mac cleaner. Its MCP server is built into the app (pruneo mcp, stdio):
the agent can read a disk overview, list what each section holds with its risk level, and clean only what
Pruneo marks as safe and regenerable (caches, build outputs, old downloads…). Nothing is deleted: every cleanup goes
to Pruneo's quarantine (48 hours by default) and can be undone with one call.
- 🟢 Safe (regenerable): the agent may move it to quarantine.
- 🟡 Needs review: always refused. The person decides in the app.
- 🔴 Protected (SSH keys,
.git,.env, iCloud Drive, Mail, system files…): never touched. - The Trash, Time Machine snapshots and anything cleaned by a tool command (no undo) are refused too.
- Runs locally. No network, no account, no telemetry from the MCP server.
Tools
| Tool | What it does | Writes? |
|---|---|---|
get_disk_overview | Free and total disk space; per section, bytes that are safe, need review or are protected, and how much an agent may clean | No |
list_section_items | Items of one section, largest first: name, path (with ~), size, risk and whether an agent can clean it | No |
get_quarantine | Quarantine batches: id, size, original paths, expiry | No |
clean_safe_items | Moves the safe items of a section to quarantine. paths picks some, dry_run only previews. Returns what moved, bytes freed and how to undo | Moves to quarantine |
restore_from_quarantine | Puts every item of a batch back where it was | Restores |
Sections: junk, browsers, downloads, duplicates, large, leftovers, projects, xcode, node, python,
ai, docker, languages, editors, homebrew, android, devtools, creative, audio, music
(only the ones installed on your Mac show up), plus trash, timemachine, unknown and apps, which are read-only.

Example prompts
- "How much space can I free on my Mac? Show me the biggest sections first."
- "Clean the safe Xcode and Node caches, but show me a dry run first."
- "What did you move to quarantine? Put back the last batch."
This repository
This repo holds the MCP bundle (bundle/: manifest, launcher, icon) and the registry metadata (server.json,
glama.json). The server itself ships inside Pruneo.app. ./build.sh packs dist/pruneo-mcp.mcpb and writes its
SHA-256 into server.json.
