MCP server exposing Spinnaker CD platform via Gate API for pipeline and deployment management

What can you do with Spinnaker?

  • Applications and pipelines: list, read, trigger, save, update and delete pipelines, with revision history.
  • Executions: list, search by trigger type, time range and status, cancel, pause, resume, restart a stage, evaluate SpEL.
  • Deployment strategies: list, save and delete.
  • Infrastructure: server groups, load balancers, clusters, firewalls, instances and console output, images, networks, subnets, accounts.
  • Orchestration task status (deploy, resize, rollback).
  • Bearer token, basic auth, x509 client certificate, or the session cookie of a Gate behind SSO (spinnaker-mcp login).
  • stdio or HTTP transport; HTTP binds to 127.0.0.1 by default.
  • Ships as an npm package (npx spinnaker-mcp), a Docker image and multi-arch Go binaries.

Install

Add this to your client's MCP configuration (Claude Desktop: claude_desktop_config.json; Cursor: .cursor/mcp.json; VS Code and others use the same "mcpServers" shape).

spinnaker-mcp

A bridge that exposes any Spinnaker instance as an MCP server via the Gate API, written in Go.

It gives an LLM 37 tools to read and operate Spinnaker: applications, pipelines, executions, strategies and infrastructure.

Features

  • Applications and pipelines: list, read, trigger, save, update and delete pipelines, with revision history.
  • Executions: list, search by trigger type, time range and status, cancel, pause, resume, restart a stage, evaluate SpEL.
  • Deployment strategies: list, save and delete.
  • Infrastructure: server groups, load balancers, clusters, firewalls, instances and console output, images, networks, subnets, accounts.
  • Orchestration task status (deploy, resize, rollback).
  • Bearer token, basic auth, x509 client certificate, or the session cookie of a Gate behind SSO (spinnaker-mcp login).
  • stdio or HTTP transport; HTTP binds to 127.0.0.1 by default.
  • Ships as an npm package (npx spinnaker-mcp), a Docker image and multi-arch Go binaries.

Quick start

Add the server to your MCP client (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "spinnaker": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "spinnaker-mcp"],
      "env": { "GATE_URL": "https://spin-gate.example.com", "GATE_TOKEN": "your-token-here" }
    }
  }
}

Needs Node 18 or newer; the npm package runs the Go binary over stdio. Docker, local builds and the other credentials are in Getting started.

A variable whose value is only an unexpanded placeholder, such as ${GATE_TOKEN}, counts as unset.

Frequently asked questions

What is Spinnaker?

MCP server exposing Spinnaker CD platform via Gate API for pipeline and deployment management

How do I install Spinnaker?

It runs on your machine. In Claude Code: claude mcp add spinnaker -e 'GATE_URL=<GATE_URL>' -e 'GATE_TOKEN=<your gate_token>' -e 'GATE_USER=<GATE_USER>' -e 'GATE_PASS=<your gate_pass>' -e 'GATE_COOKIE=<your gate_cookie>' -e 'GATE_COOKIE_FILE=<GATE_COOKIE_FILE>' -e 'GATE_CERT_FILE=<GATE_CERT_FILE>' -e 'GATE_KEY_FILE=<GATE_KEY_FILE>' -e 'GATE_INSECURE=false' -e 'TOOLSETS=readonly' -- npx -y spinnaker-mcp@0.4.0. For other clients, paste the JSON configuration from this page into their MCP settings.

Does Spinnaker need an API key?

Yes. It expects GATE_URL, GATE_TOKEN, GATE_PASS, GATE_COOKIE, which you set in its configuration.

Is Spinnaker open source?

Yes. Its code is on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license.

Who maintains Spinnaker?

It is published by GeiserX. AI.tn lists it but does not maintain or endorse it.

From the official MCP Registry. Listing is not an endorsement: review a server's code and permissions before giving it access to your data.
