Frequently asked questions

What is PaperType?

Render Markdown, HTML or invoice/certificate/report templates to PDF files via the PaperType API.

How do I install PaperType?

It runs on your machine. In Claude Code: claude mcp add papertype -e 'PAPERTYPE_API_KEY=<your papertype_api_key>' -e 'PAPERTYPE_OUTPUT_DIR=<PAPERTYPE_OUTPUT_DIR>' -e 'PAPERTYPE_BASE_URL=https://papertype.dev' -- npx -y papertype-mcp@0.1.0. For other clients, paste the JSON configuration from this page into their MCP settings.

Does PaperType need an API key?

Yes. It expects PAPERTYPE_API_KEY, which you set in its configuration.

Who maintains PaperType?

It is published by dev.papertype. AI.tn lists it but does not maintain or endorse it.

From the official MCP Registry. Listing is not an endorsement: review a server's code and permissions before giving it access to your data.
