MCP Server for Suno AI — Generate music directly from Claude, VSCode, Cursor, and any MCP-compatible client.

What is this?

@yellowkode/suno-mcp is an open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects Claude and other AI assistants directly to the Suno AI music generation API.

Instead of manually calling the API, you can just tell Claude:

"Generate a dark ambient viking instrumental, slow drums, cinematic, no vocals"

...and Claude handles the full generation flow automatically.

Prerequisites

Node.js 18+
A Suno API key — two options:

The server auto-detects which API to use based on the key prefix. No extra config needed.

Available Tools

`generate_music`	Start music generation — returns a `taskId`
`get_music_status`	Check generation status by `taskId`
`wait_for_music`	Auto-poll until ready, returns audio URL (up to 5 min)
`list_recent_music`	List recently generated tracks
`get_credits`	Check remaining API credits

With a SunoBoard key (sb_...) you also get:

`generate_sfx`	Generate a sound effect from text (footsteps, coins, doors, UI clicks, whooshes…), 0.5–10 s, ready in ~2 s. Pass `public: true` to also share it on SunoBoard Discover
`list_models`	Music and SFX models (Suno, Google Lyria, MiniMax, Stable Audio, ElevenLabs, TangoFlux) with what each costs
`get_usage`	Credits and sound effects left this month, reset date, your default models
`search_library`	Search the public SunoBoard library of ready-made tracks (free)
`get_referral_link`	Your referral link (bonus credits for you and a friend)

With a SunoBoard key, generate_music also accepts model = lyria-3-pro, minimax-2.6, stable-audio-2.5 or elevenlabs-music (plus duration_seconds where supported). Get your key at sunoboard.com/settings — or skip the install and add the hosted connector https://mcp.sunoboard.com/mcp (guide).

Usage Examples

Basic

"Generate a relaxing lo-fi hip hop track for studying"

Claude calls generate_music → wait_for_music and returns the audio URL.

Game development

"Generate dramatic battle music for an RPG boss fight, orchestral, no lyrics, intense"

Sound effects for your game (SunoBoard key)

"Here's my list of 20 sounds (footsteps on grass, coin pickup, door creak…). Generate each one with generate_sfx and save them to assets/audio/sfx"
