PAVE MCP server

PAVE is flight-training software for flight instructors, students and flight schools. This is PAVE's hosted MCP server. It lets an AI assistant read your own PAVE records (your syllabus and progress, your schedule, the school's airplanes, your papers) and search PAVE's FAR/AIM library, after you sign in with your own PAVE account.

This repository holds documentation only. PAVE hosts the server, so there is no package to install and no server code here.

Serverhttps://api.pavecfi.com/mcp
TransportStreamable HTTP (remote)
Sign-inOAuth, with your own PAVE account
AccessRead-only
MCP Registry namecom.pavecfi/pave

You need a PAVE account. During the beta, PAVE accounts come from your instructor or school.

What it does

Every tool reads only what your own PAVE account can see in the app. A student sees their own record. An instructor or the school sees the school's students. Nothing is written or changed.

ToolWhat it reads
read_syllabusThe syllabus a student is on: the course, its stages and lessons, which are signed and which come next, and where a topic ("steep turns") is taught. Another company's course comes back as theirs, with counts only.
read_personA student's file (for an instructor or the school), or your own record. Syllabus and progress come first.
read_peopleThe people you may see, by name, with their ids and roles.
read_instructorsThe school's instructors.
read_currencyOne person's currency (instructor or school only).
read_documentsThe papers on file for a person or an airplane: medical, certificates, endorsements, uploads.
read_my_bookingsEvery booking you're on as the pilot, the instructor or the examiner.
read_scheduleOne airplane's schedule. Other people's bookings show only as busy time.
read_calendarYour linked calendars and the other instructors' busy time.
read_fleetThe school's airplanes and whether each is airworthy.
read_aircraftOne airplane's airworthiness, by tail number.
read_aircraft_holdWhether one airplane is on hold, by tail number.
read_squawksOpen squawks.
read_weatherThe latest METAR, the TAF, the daily forecast, and sunrise and sunset for a field. A display and a forecast, never a weather briefing.
read_regsThe exact text of 14 CFR, 49 CFR, the AIM and the advisory circulars, with where it lives.
read_notebookAnswers to rules questions that a person checked, each with its source.

How to set it up

VS Code with GitHub Copilot

Add PAVE to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace (or to your user MCP configuration):

{
  "servers": {
    "pave": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.pavecfi.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Start the server, then sign in to PAVE in the browser window that opens.

Claude

PAVE is listed in Claude's connector directory. Add it from there and sign in to PAVE.

Other assistants

Any MCP client that supports remote servers over streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in can connect. Add https://api.pavecfi.com/mcp as a custom connector and sign in to PAVE.

How to use it

Ask in plain words. For example:

  • "What's my next lesson, and what does it cover?"
  • "Where in my syllabus are steep turns?"
  • "Which airplanes are airworthy right now?"
  • "What am I booked on for the next two weeks?"
  • "Show me 14 CFR 61.87, paragraph (d)."
  • "What's the weather at KPVF?"

Privacy

  • Read-only: the server never writes to your records.
  • You see only what your PAVE account can see in the app.
  • PAVE's privacy policy: https://pavecfi.com/privacy
